Experimental Setup for ANKLE EXPERIMENTS

Transputer Startup

1.      Boot Control PC

2.      Use ‘trun <control_file>’ from Ralph (remote server control)

a.       Sample zero positions

b.      Start

c.       To exit, hit CRTL-C

Matlab Startup

3.      Start MATLAB session on SPINDLE, type 'exp_startup' to set the BMED_Tools paths. The MATLAB control scripts are on Spindle (D:/BMED_Tools/REKLAB_exp/). The latest experimental control menu startup script is exp_menu (exp_menu.m). An older version also exists called exp_control (exp_control.m).

Hydraulic Start Up

  1. Digital power supply on.
  2. Main power on.
  3. Pump switch up/on.
  4. Pressure switch up/on
  5. Flow switch up/on
  6. Wait for a few minutes for reservior to accumulate required operating pressure (3000 psi).
  7. Check the pressure gauge AND ensure the controller is running before starting Forward flow START button.

Hydraulic Shutdown

  1. Forward flow STOP.
  2. Flow down/OFF
  3. Pressure down/OFF
  4. Pump OFF
  5. Digital power supply FF.
  6. Main power FF.

Mixed Position/Impedance Wiring Setup

server488 notes

·        The new implementation no longer requires server488. It now uses ActiveX – see GPIB documentation and ISX documentation in MATLAB.

·        Socket problem:  If a previous version of server488 exited abnormally it may have left a socket in place which will cause problems. The socket will be /tmp/serv.soc? and will have to be removed before proceeding. Note that this may require root privileges.
