Matlab v.5.3 R11 is installed on Hankle (/usr/local2/matlab5.3). Matlab v6.0 R12 is problematic on the existing machines due to old OS (R12 requires Compaq TruUnix OSF v5.0). But, the new licenses only work with the newest release of the license manager.
Hence, the FlexLM License Manager (v.6.1) is installed on Cortex (/usr/local/matlab6.0/etc). This is where the group (research) licenses are managed. The teaching licenses are to be managed by Neuron.
Note that the corresponding license.dat file must be kept on BOTH the client and license server (e.g., group license file on Hankle AND Cortex). The license file is located in $MATLAB/etc/license.dat. An update license file is usually implemented simply by cutting the new license information and pasting it into the license.dat file (on both server and client side).
